Spring in the Cape Winelands - we believe the best time of year especially as we sit in a rainy London thinking about the Coral Trees covered in red flowers, the wisteria hanging in purple flowers around the veranda, and the vines transforming from gnarled wood into fresh green foliage with the all important flower buds starting to appear.

Keep a look out for an open air art display at 5 Mountains this August. Using skills from a local community, 5 Mountains is planning a colourful display across the field leading to the main Lodge. Too much info will spoil the surprise but watch out for the photo under blogpics.

After years of planning we will finally be opening our garden restaurant called "The Grove at 5 Mountains" this Spring. This is to complement our dining room which to date has catered mainly for guests but in future will welcome non-residents as well. We will soon also be announcing an exciting addition to our staff with an additional chef to help us with the overall development of 5 Mountains. We believe that we will be the first wine farm off the Bains Kloof, Wellington to welcome guests for open air dining. During the day we are planning a "grazing" menu with meats, and cheese platters, olives, fresh bread and some daily specials together with a bottle of Wellingtons finest of course. Opening is planned for October. Monday, July 9

At long last the 2006 wine is in the bottle. A Chenin Blanc blended with Viognier and a natural sweet wine made from Chenin Blanc. We were considering blending with some muscat but the Chenin Blanc dessert wine developed some wonderful honey and fruit flavours. Only 1600 bottles so we expect to sell most through 5 Mountains Lodge and our outlets in the UK.
