The story so far... Inspired by the natural beauty of South Africa, the cultural and societal richness and the progressive attitude of the country, Stuart and Louisa McLachlan decided to buy some land in a Private Wildlife Estate and an accommodation establishment and vineyard called 5 Mountains Lodge. The former being a wonderful piece of Bushveld with a view over 30 kilometres to the mountains framing the Blyde River Canyon, and the latter was at the time a rather tired looking guest house but in a dramatic Cape Winelands location.
“We felt that South Africa had so much to offer tourists, but some of the classy establishments were becoming so expensive. We felt inspired to invest in building and renovating two boutique establishments that bring elegance, luxury, and contact with some of the most beautiful places on earth at affordable prices” says Louisa.
So the adventure began and in 2001, Exclusive Escapes cc was set up with accommodation, food, dining, weddings, conferences and other activities being the ingredients that represent the business. As you can imagine there is always excitement to be had and we have enjoyed our fair share of “uniquely African” events.
Exclusive Escapes and our experiences can now reach out via this blog and we look forward to engaging anyone who may be interested in the future of these wonderful places.

Very interested to read latest comments re. 5 Mountains. My wife and I stayed there and at Khumbula a couple of years ago and are returning later this year. We were impressed then and now it seems we have even more to look forward to.
One thing's for sure - your winter is sure to be better than our summer! Re: Welcome to Exclusive Escapes News Blog

A friend of ours in the UK recommended 5 Mountains Lodge as the place to stay on our trip to the Winelands.
Have you any plans to increase the extent of your wine production? I'm told the 2005 was excellent. Ben Re: Re: Welcome to Exclusive Escapes News Blog

Glad to hear that word is getting around. You will be extremely welcome at 5 Mountains. Lots of plans to increase wine production. This year we have done a dessert wine for the first time. We also have quite a bit of land that has been used for stockies. This is quite intensive and we are restoring some of the goodness into the ground by planting lupins. They should look great around late August when they are due to flower. We will then consider what varieties we should plant. Any ideas?

From what I hear about your Chenin Blanc, I can't see any reason for looking beyond that but I guess a red as well from whatever vines are most suitable to the ground. Pinotage maybe although I personally prefer Cabernet.
If you carry out wine tastings I'll call by and check out your dessert wine when I'm passing. Ben Re: Welcome to Exclusive Escapes News Blog

from Mrs Masterson
Would just like to say that my husband & I had a great week at Khumbula. Howard looked after us so well and fixed some brilliant excursions for us that we can't wait to go back and see all the things we didn't have time for. There is so much to see and do around there and having a giraffe walk past while lazing in the pool is mindblowing. Thanks again. Re: Welcome to Exclusive Escapes News Blog

A bed and breakfast (or B&B) is a small lodging establishment that offers overnight accommodation and breakfast, but usually does not offer other meals. Typically, bed and breakfasts are private homes with fewer than 10 bedrooms available for commercial use.

I met my boyfriend in September, seems trivial, but in the process of how we saw more often in school I came to I like him .. story common in most teenagers .. I got to talk, and at the same time I like increasingly more, and so on, and to be together, until I told him that a relationship is necessarily based on intimate relationship from the start
